I've got some great news for you!
Because of the sunshine, which make me in a very good mood I decided I will give everyone a 25% discount on all photo shoots. So with mommy's day tomorrow this might be a nice gift, don't you think?

For more info please check https://www.facebook.com/frozenimages/notes
(this note is written in Dutch as I presume most customers will be from around NL ;-))

The other great news is that from now on 28Design will be available trough etsy.com.
Etsy is a great site, on which every artist or hobby-st can sell it's stuff. It's like Ebay or marktplaats, but then mainly for designer things. Like handmade jewelry and handmade clothing or paintings. So I've created an account, for you people. You can easily order stuff and pay from there too.
Don't hesitate to order an item, you can return it when you are not satisfied or the size ain't right! Or just send me an email when you have a question about what kind of shirts I can offer, because I can make something special for you, an unique piece!

So what I am asking you is: please spread the word, let all your friends know about the 25% discount on FrozenImages and the cool stuff I sell at 28Design.

Today I finished a painting which will be for sale soon in the 28Design webshop.
This is just a crappy web cam photo, the painting is still drying at the moment.
I'll make a better representative photo tomorrow when I will also add it to the shop and will tell you the background info on this painting.

Since 28Design is a place where Art and Fashion will be combined I thought it's therefor the perfect place to give you the opportunity to buy paintings too.

I hope you will eventually enjoy 28Design's Art & Fashion and it's variety of items. I've got so much more cool stuff I would love to share with you guy's, but everything in time... ;-)

Delain
Thought this might be fun to share with you guys. I ran into this photo past week and look what Sander and Martijn are wearing! I've custom made these shirts for the band. The tour outfits are made by http:// www.rosiesart.nl.
Delain is currently on tour through Europe. Check www.delain.nl to see if they'll play in your neighbourhood.
Besides the shirts I am also involved in the stage design and video content. I haven't seen it live though, hopefully I can join one of the shows soon and see how everything will come together (stage, outfits, video and ofcourse the songs!) What I can tell from all the great photos, made of this tour, it's looking awesome! Everyone did a great job.

Ailyn, singer of the Norwegian band Sirenia, will also wear 28 Design shirts on tour. Ailyn and I will have a meeting about the details pretty soon. I am looking forward to this cooperation!

I hope more collaborations will follow soon, if you are interested in me designing something for you, please contact me!

Sun, 29 Apr 2012 03:52:00 -0700 28 Design http://wendybogert.posterous.com/28-design http://wendybogert.posterous.com/28-design

Do you remember my last post, that I might have some cool ideas to share with you?
Well here it is ;-)

Some of you might noticed that I added a page to my facebook account, called 28Design.
Let me tell you something about this.

After I pimped some of my shirts I got many cool reactions on that. So that inspired me to start my own shop with shirts and other stuff for you guys!
But since I think creativity doesn't fit into one expertise I thinking of combining Fine Art with Fashion.

Which means I the items I sell are not only fashion, it's a piece of Art! All prints are hand painted by me, all holes hand cut and all accessories hand made, this makes every item unique.

The shirts ARE  however available in different sizes!
So how does that work, you might think...since I say every item is unique....

When you order a shirt from the shop it means that you will get a 'look a like' shirt of the one shown in the shop.I paint all prints by hand so none of them will be exactly the same. I do however try to get as close as the original as possible.
Sometimes I will make one piece unique items, this means you will get the exact item that is shown in the shop. If it's an one piece only item you will see it by it's label.

Take a look at the new website:  www.28design.nl
And see if you find something that will suits you.

Sat, 24 Mar 2012 06:36:00 -0700 Pimp my Shirt http://wendybogert.posterous.com/pimp-my-shirt http://wendybogert.posterous.com/pimp-my-shirt

This beautiful weather makes me creative.
Remember the light grey shirt from last blog? Well here it is again after some pimping I did today!
I became a big fan of bleach ;-) and I do now understand why the textile paint said it should be used in your washing machine and not dye your shirt by hand...

I really hope my hands will become it's original color soon, because at the moment they are kind of blueish and I can't get it off.

I am planning to do more stuff like this coming time, so if you like your thirt to be creativly f*cked up by me: let me know ;-) I'll be happy to cut it in pieces for you!

Also I will be available for more photoshoot, artworks, paintings etc.
I will update my website soon to give you all more insight in what I can, will and am about to do.

if you're interested in any kind of art I make; send an email to: wendybogert@frozenimages.nl

It makes me feel so good and I feel the urge to create.

So time for a cup of coffee, my sewing box, cheap thirt and siccors. And then just brutaly cut open the back. I love sewing, especially making things by hand while sitting in the sun.

I will show you the end results of this tshirt cut up in a next blog, so stay tuned ;-).

P36

I went to the RAW art event in Rotterdam. A bit last minute decision, but a friend of mine had a few tickets left.

I must say I was very surprised about the amount of people visiting the event! It was pretty crowded, so that is very good for all the galleries and artists.
There where some very interesting photos and paintings and they where really inspiring me, so I've got a whole bunch of new ideas which I can't wait to start on.
One of them to really push forward an old idea I had to combine photography with painted art. (Where Photography meets Fine Art)
This idea I started with the talented photographer Nando Harmsen, but I never found the time to really sit down and start on this project. However we already did some brainstorm sessions. Maybe it's a good idea to start this idea from zero. So I can make a fresh start on this one.
I will give it some thoughts coming time , how I could really push the 'Where Photography meets Fine Art' project. Because I think this could really work out really well.

Thu, 09 Feb 2012 15:40:00 -0800 First course of 2012 started... http://wendybogert.posterous.com/first-course-of-2012-started http://wendybogert.posterous.com/first-course-of-2012-started

Kajden

Some of you already might know I started a 'basic photography' course.
It came to my attention a lot of people own a digital single-lens reflex camera (SLR) but really only ever use the automatic mode. Which ofcourse is great that the camera has an automatic mode, but a SLR camera is so much more then that.
I thought of it as a waste of money. When you want to buy good camera and willing to spend money on that, just buy a very good compact camera; like the Olympus Pen or the new Nikon 1.
Then you will still be able to buy new lenses (if you really want to do that), and you don't have to think about aperture and shutterspeed.

Nevertheless, the people that do own a SLR camera and do not know how to use it, other then the automatic mode, are very welcome to follow my course.
I can imagine it's very confusing and very frustrating when you have to read the whole thick manual book that comes with the cam. It doesn't even really clarify most of the possible setups and you might even get lost in all the complicated terminology.
So therefor I started this 'basic photography' course. I will try to explain how you can easily use the settings of your camera, I will try to make you understand what makes a SLR different from a compact cam. and will help you to really have advantage of using your own settings.
Once you understand your cam. a bit you will be able to be more creative when thinking of compositions, using lights/shadows etc. This way you will experience more fun while photographing.

The course of February is full and started past monday. I have had four 'students' and I've sent them home with some homework. I am surely looking forward to see all the results monday evening, when we will start the second lesson about compositions.

If you would like to participate in a course as well: a new course will start in April 2012.
You can check the event page on facebook to see all dates. (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Wendy-van-den-Bogert-FrozenImages/156878444358408?sk=events)

I also do some 'one day' workshops, for the ones which might be interested.
These workshops can also be done individually, and personalized to your wishes (what would you like to learn?). If you want a one day workshop with a group of friends or a private workshop: just send me an email!

Charlotte and I started with the preperations for our project. There’s been some developments, and new exciting cooperations in our project. It opens up some great new perspectives! So we're really looking forward to work on this and get this project going.

Besides my cooperative project with Charlotte, I started to finish up my 'Childish project'. After some great photoshoots I think I have enough photos to finally start on the final selection and start collecting poems, lyrics and texts of various writers. However IF you would still like to join this project, with your kids or would like to write a poem/lyric, you can still contact me! Don't hesitate.

Within a month a will make a start on a new project, and like usual I am looking for models again! This time I am looking for kids again. This time I do not have specific requirements, all ages are welcome. If you would like to join, or you would like to subscribe your kid, send me a message!

Tue, 27 Dec 2011 05:07:00 -0800 True identity... http://wendybogert.posterous.com/true-identity http://wendybogert.posterous.com/true-identity

For a while I have been thinking about using photoshop within photography.
Since lately I get many questions from models if I want to reduce their underchin, get rid their puffy cheeks and make them look more thin. Of course this all can be done, no problem...
Besides the removal of pimples, little scars and other skin related things, sure I can form anybody into a real model.
When we talk about 'plain' portraits, family shots etc. then sorry I must dissapoint you! I do NOT remove underchins, reduce weights and all that kind of stuff. I think it's like you are disown yourself. Not excepting the way you look, or maybe have a whole different idea about the way you look.

People should have trust in the photographer, you've seen the photographers work. I guess that's why you choose that photographer, because you liked all previous work. Therefor the photographer should be able to work freely and get some respect. Have faith in the photographer that they will get the best out of you and surely choose the nicest photos.

Don't get me wrong here: I am a BIG fan of photoshop! and pro-pimple remover! That's for sure. I just questioning why people keep on asking to make these huge adjustments on their body. Asking me to transform them into someone else, not accepting that they might look a little different then Doutzen Kroes or Kate Moss. I think most beauty is on the inside, that's why I like photographing spontaneous portraits and am not so fan of posed portraits.(note: Still talking about 'plain' portraits and family shots here!) The challenge for me is to capture unforced portraits, within a directed organised studio scene.

For an art project on diversity with Charlotte Wessels, I am looking for various models who'd be interested in spending a day with us to work on a photoseries.

We are looking for people ages 18 and up, of all different appearances, physical abilities, ethnicity's, shapes, sizes and ages. Requirements aren't many; all who want to contribute to this project and have no problem with functional nudity, are welcome to apply.

If you're interested in applying, please send an email to info@charlottewessels.nl. Please state your name and age (and where you're from if you're not from the Netherlands), and send along a clear picture of yourself. We will send you full information on the project if you do.
Please spread this message, or pass it on if you know somebody who might be interested. Our graditude will be eternal :)

It's already nearly the end of 2011.
A year full of changes, decisions, excitements, and a lot of traveling.
Although I haven't been that far away from home I must admit that I've spend nearly a quarter of my weekends across borders.
Compared to my partner, who is a light tech/operator/designer, it's nothing ;-) But still, we are a 'moving' couple. Even now we have a kid it doesn't stop us from seeing the world.
These travels has really inspired me, in a artistic way. Especially Denmark and Germany are triggering my urge to create. And so I am really happy that my next stop will be Berlin!!!
Can't wait to take my camera into the city, visiting all cool places and try to capture everything in one single (or maybe two) shots.

A lot of nice things are in my agenda for 2012.
Like finishing my Childish project, for the Dutchies among us: a photography course in February, that will take place in my studio and 100.000 new ideas for cool artworks and photoshoots.

I will try to use my blog more often, to keep you posted on all new stuff that's going on.

Logo_v2
Some of you might think I was lazy past weeks, playing in my studio a bit.
But actually I've been very busy. Busy with preparing several photoshoots, preperations to get cad-design.nl online, designing JJB events and some thinking about promoting.

What about promoting? The main question is: do I want to, or not?
I know I should do it, simply for the fact to get my name out there.
But my heart lies within the 'arty' side of photography. Capture a image with a story or a concept, instead of photographing 'commercial' portraits. So maybe promoting isn't even the question, more then which way am I going to take with my work.
Don't get me wrong here, it's not that I do not want to make commercial portraits! I do make them, and I do even enjoy it! My biggest concern is: I want to achieve a standard, let's call it the 'wendy' standard. Which means I want every image to be special, to be mine, to be directed the way I see this person.
Which in the image can mean that someone doesn't always look they way they want to, or how they see themselves. This can cause some tension between the model and photographer, and this is exactly the reason why I haven't been promoting my ass off for my newly studio.
Simple fact: I am scared, terrified of doing this, scared that this can really go somewhere...
This is what I always wanted, now I have the opportunity to do so... So I am going to kick myself on the butt and go for it.... just JUMP! (who's jumping with me?)

Fri, 25 Mar 2011 11:43:00 -0700 Is a photographer not always the director? http://wendybogert.posterous.com/2011/03/is-photographer-not-always-director.html http://wendybogert.posterous.com/2011/03/is-photographer-not-always-director.html My previous post was about realism and surrealism, making the decision what to show you viewer.
Let's take this subject a bit further....

With digital photography we got the possibility to shoot frame after frame after frame. Thousands of photos to choose the ONE from. But does this makes photography more pure?
In my opinion not at all... it's still very directed, maybe even more acted then when you only have four shots. More to choose from, more time and easier medium to do some post production.

Though post production is still a kind of 'not' done, well let it put this way: the 'real' photographers around us say you need to just make a good photo, so there is minimal post production afterwards. But isn't that a statement of ignorance. People are scared of new media. Just like some photographers like to stick on their old camera. And to be honest: I am also a bit passionated by the 'old way'. I like the smell, I love the looks and I do like the way you see your photo develop. But then again, I couldn't imagine myself without my digital cam.
For me as an artist it's hard to imagine people think post production is 'not done'. One: within the darkroom we do exactly the same, so what does photoshop make different except for being really handy, because you do not need to print your images or f*ck up your negatives? And two: you can expand you photographs into real artworks, so you can develop yourself as a real artist instead of only capturing one image. There's nothing wrong (in my opinion) to take you photos to a more surreal level and create your own world within them. Since every photo is a directed scenery anyway, why not direct and imagine it even further?

Tue, 08 Mar 2011 09:22:00 -0800 Is it all fake? http://wendybogert.posterous.com/2011/03/is-it-all-fake.html http://wendybogert.posterous.com/2011/03/is-it-all-fake.html I had a very interesting evening yesterday at Pakhuis de Zwijger.
A nice video about Koen Wessing made me think about some things like the essence of photogaphy.
Especially the part in which he told they only got to use 2 film cassettes, that's 3 pictures for the assessment and one for on the road. It made me realize that photography these days is so different.

Photography isn't just capturing a moment, it's organizing, acting, changing reality. Even when you shoot documentary shots, it might be a good thing to think about what you are looking at. It's all surrealism!
The photographer is the director, he decides what he wants to show you, he's the one to decide what emotions will be shown, which emotions he want the viewer to experience.

But with the photography nowadays it makes you wonder if the photographer is still in charge...
With the possibility to shoot frame after frame, thousands of pictures from which you can choose. Makes photography more into stop motion movies. You are not capturing a specific moment, but capturing a whole sequence of an event... Less directed, less complicated, less thought trough.
Since you have a whole collection of pictures to choose from, makes me wonder if that makes the pictures more pure? Is the subject you photographed less acted? And with that.... more real?

The thesis I wrote for my graduation, six years ago, was all about realism and surrealism in photography, and combining 3d graphics and design to your photographs.
For me it's very interesting to see that this discussion, this subject, is still very alive and on going!
Makes me wonder what other people think, and how things will evolve....

I think we managed to get a very good overall idea about the dress and some other stuff too!
It was great to have some sightseeing time left too. Århus is a great place with very nice shops and buildings.
I must say I got really inspired by all Danish designs! I love the architecture of the great buildings and the wide open atmosphere. Makes me feel very creative, and I hope I can find a way to capture all my inspiration I got there into one of my projects.

Since it's Wednesday today is an office day at PixelPool. I will have time to do some designing later this evening.
There are still some commercial projects left to be done. Some logo designing, and some web designing.
Once that's done I will finally have some time to experiment and do some test shots for my "Sensuals" project.
Sunday morning I will have some time in the studio, preparing for the shoot I'll do later that afternoon. I found out my model was sick this week, so I really hope she will be better on Sunday! Otherwise I think I will spend some more time on experimenting and preparing.
I'll keep you all posted!
